Covid-19/Brava: PCR test result for patient suspected of coronavirus was negative

The result of the PCR test carried out on the suspected covid-19 patient on Brava Island was negative and she will be discharged today, to comply with home quarantine, under medical supervision.

This information was provided to Inforpress by the health delegate of Brava Island, Júlio Barros, stressing that this result eliminates the possibility of suspected cases on the island.

The island of Brava entered the list of islands with suspected cases of covid-19 on the 6th of July, when a quick test was carried out on a patient who had arrived on the island on the 27th of June, coming from the city of Praia with its negative PCR test, but already in the control exam it was positive.

There was a suspicious case again last Thursday, the 7th, which according to the delegate, was a patient who had come from the city of Praia last Friday, the 31st of July.

After the quick test of IGG and IGM, which tested positive, the patient was placed in the isolation space at the Health Police Station and the PCR test was performed, the result of which came out today and was negative.

With this result, Júlio Barros once again appeals to the population of Brave to respect the standards and safety measures issued by the Ministry of Health.

The official added that they have been taking measures and complying with the guidelines, especially with regard to the operation of bars, social distancing, among others.

But even so, it appeals to everyone's common sense in complying with measures and restrictions.

Cabo Verde has so far recorded 2,858 confirmed cases of covid-19, 2,086 recovered, 32 deaths and 738 active cases.

The covid-19 pandemic has already caused around 722,000 deaths and infected more than 19.4 million people in 196 countries and territories, according to a balance sheet made by the French agency AFP.

The disease is transmitted by a new coronavirus detected at the end of December in Wuhan, a city in central China.

After Europe succeeded China as the center of the pandemic in February, the American continent is now the one with the most confirmed cases and the most deaths.
