Official Residence - Current municipal administration forgot campaign promises

Vila Nova Sintra, 01 March 2020 - The current administration, completely forgetting that in the electoral campaign it promised to transform the official residence of the Mayor into a decent space to receive government authorities visiting the island of Brava, turned it into a “parody” space .

In a clear mismatch between the campaign promise, where the team led by the then candidate Orlando Balla, said that it would transform the President's official residence into a decent place for the reception of government authorities, diplomats and others who visited Brava, President Francisco Walter Tavares made exactly the opposite.

The residence was transformed into the headquarters of the Centrum Sete Sois Sete Luas, then into a Music School and to end this saga of mistreating the memory and the officiality of the space, a restaurant/bar has now been opened.

Ilha da Brava is a model of architectural harmony, with its white and gray houses, the beautiful square stone walls, lined with particular emphasis on the sober elegance of Nova Sintra, dominated by the bust of Eugènio Tavares (poet).

The conservation of the heritage, with the history of the official residence, built in the 60s, is a moral imperative and it is up to the local authorities to do so.
