CVMA nominees known today at Gala held in America

The nominees for the XII edition of the Cape Verdean Music Awards (CVMA) are known this Saturday, April 1, at the Nelson Auditorium at Brockton High School, Massachusetts, in the United States of America.

The organization of the Cabo Verde Music Awards supports this “decentralization” as a way of “promoting national music and its actors across borders” and also of being closer to communities in the diaspora, characterized as “important centers of musical production in Cabo Verde ”.

“The diaspora of the United States of America is the largest, very active and expressive, as well as historical and assumes itself as an “11th island” of the country.

This justifies the natural “choice” for this action which is intended to inaugurate a tour of other communities in future editions, recognizing the importance of the Cape Verdean diaspora in the development, impact and promotion of national music across borders” reads in the statement .

“Excellence” Music Gala

This year's nominees will be presented this Saturday, April 1, in Brockton, at a musical gala with performances by Dj Larry Love, Dj Shy, Vargas Monteiro, Assol Garcia, Zerui Depina, Djedje and Rapaz 100 Juiz

Remember that this year the awards have several changes. In addition to Popular Music, the Music of the Year category and the Other Rhythms category were introduced – replacing Electronic Music

The Best on Stage category is also back, with a total of 17 categories and 5 honorable mentions

"The future is now!"

"The future is now!" will be the motto of the next XII edition of the CVMA which, according to the organization, brings a “more futuristic vision of music, aligned with current challenges but without neglecting the cultural and rhythmic heritage” that contributes to identifying and distinguishing Cape Verde in the World .

The XII edition of the Cabo Verde Music Awards takes place on June 3 at a location yet to be determined by the organization.
