Municipality Day/Brava: MAA delivers a reservoir with a capacity of 300 cubic meters (m³) to the community of Cachaço

The delegate from the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (MAA) in Brava today delivered a reservoir to the Cachaço community with a collection capacity of up to 300 cubic meters (m³).

Speaking to the press, Ermelindo Barros explained that this project was developed within the scope of a MAA program for the rehabilitation and waterproofing of reservoirs covering several islands in the country and, in Brava, the priority was Cachaço and Baleia.

In the locality of Cachaço there is a significant number of livestock farmers and livestock is the dominant activity in the area which, by having more water available, will have an “added value” and he highlighted the fact that there is already a reservoir in the area with capacity to store 400 m³.

According to this official, the project is worth around 6,000 contos and has a system for collecting water through a catchment mirror and road water, noting that water storage passes through a small reservoir before reaching the larger one, making the Most of the coarser debris is retained, preventing clogging.

Also in the town of Baleia, the intervention resulted from a demand from the community, which has some cattle ranchers and faces several difficulties in terms of access to water.

Of this type of reservoir, he stressed that it is the first, but adding, however, that in Brava, the MAA has been carrying out various types of interventions with other types of programs in the area of agriculture, irrigation, animal fomentation, among other actions.

This action was well praised and cherished by the community, because, as Henrique Pereira, a cattle breeder and local farmer, said, as long as it rains, people are already better served, taking into account that this community suffers a lot from drought and the main economic activities are livestock and agriculture.

With these two reservoirs, he advanced that, as long as there is rain, it is possible to create green areas and vegetable gardens in the area.

This delivery was made within the framework of the activities scheduled for the festivities of the Day of the Municipality of Brava, celebrated on the 24th of June.
