“Yesterday we met with the Municipal Civil Protection Committee to outline actions after the Government declared a state of alert on the islands of Santiago, Fogo and Brava due to the spread of dengue fever”, said the President of the CMB, Francisco Tavares.

It is essential that the community redouble its vigilance and do its part to eliminate breeding grounds for the Aedes aegypti mosquito, which transmits dengue fever. It is estimated that 70% of the mosquitoes in Brava are the species that spreads the disease, which makes the situation even more worrying.

There is no specific medication for dengue fever and the disease can develop into serious forms, with a risk of death. Therefore, it is crucial that everyone follows the guidelines of the authorities and dengue control teams.

Make sure to remove any containers that may accumulate water and immediately report mosquito breeding hotspots to authorities. Your cooperation is essential to contain the spread of the disease and protect the health of the community.

For more information and guidance, contact your local service points and follow the instructions of health authorities.

Stay alert, take care of your surroundings and help fight dengue fever.
