PAICV deputy criticizes trips by the Mayor of Brava without tangible results
PAICV deputy denounces lack of impact of the international trips of the Mayor of Brava on local living conditions.
Nova Sintra, January 14, 2024 (Bravanews) - On one of his social networks, Deputy João António Coelho, representative of the PAICV (Cape Verde African Independence Party) bench, expressed scathing criticism regarding the frequent trips of the President of Brava City Council to the outside. According to the deputy, these trips have consumed considerable financial resources, resulting in the expenditure of thousands of Cape Verdean escudos, without presenting concrete and tangible results for the local population.
Coelho highlighted that the successive trips of the Mayor of the City Council have not resulted in tangible improvements in the living conditions of Brava's inhabitants. He highlighted the lack of objective results, pointing out that, so far, the trips have only resulted in protocols and partnerships, without significant impacts on the quality of life of the people of Brava.
The PAICV Deputy questioned the effectiveness of these initiatives, arguing that the resources allocated to these trips could be better used in local projects that truly benefit the community. He emphasized the need for a more focused and efficient approach to the management of public resources, aiming to improve the living conditions of Brava's citizens.
João António Coelho's criticisms generated debates on social media, with some internet users defending the Mayor's actions and others supporting the need for a more rigorous analysis of the effectiveness of international travel in relation to the benefits for the local population. This episode promises to continue to be a relevant topic in political discussions in the region in the near future.
