According to the diagnosis, Brava Island is facing a significant decline in the number of residents, with many young people leaving the island in search of better economic opportunities in other regions. This trend has resulted in an aging population and a reduced workforce, directly affecting the island's ability to develop its local economy.

Furthermore, the report highlights that the lack of investment in infrastructure, education and health has exacerbated social and economic problems. Insufficient resources and the difficulty in creating sustainable jobs have contributed to a cycle of increasing poverty, which threatens the future of the island.

The study made it clear that the island is going through serious crises, highlighting the high school dropout rate, high number of single-parent families and emigration, on an island where since independence it has already lost half of its population.

The study highlights some advances, particularly access to the water and electricity network.

The Oeiras City Council’s assessment suggests a series of measures to reverse the situation, including encouraging the development of local projects, promoting sustainable tourism and improving living conditions. The Oeiras City Council has committed to working with local authorities and international organizations to implement effective strategies aimed at revitalizing Brava Island and improving the quality of life of its inhabitants.

Local authorities and the community look forward to the implementation of the recommendations, hoping that they can bring relief and revitalization to Brava Island, ensuring a brighter future for its population.
