Elections in Brava: Amândio Brito, PAICV Candidate Highlights Citizenship and Confidence in Victory
PAICV candidate Amândio Brito highlighted the significance of the elections as an act of citizenship and expressed confidence in victory during the electoral process in Brava. With 23 polling stations and 4,718 registered voters, the dispute promises to be decisive for the future of the island.
The candidate of the African Party for the Independence of Cape Verde (PAICV) for the presidency of the Municipal Council of Brava, Amândio Brito, reinforced today, in Nova Sintra, the significance of the elections as an act of citizenship, expressing confidence in victory after exercising his right to vote.
"It is with great joy and a sense of duty fulfilled that I conclude this journey. I did my part, our part, because I worked with a dedicated and committed team", said Amândio Brito, highlighting the collective work carried out throughout the campaign.
Showing optimism about the result, the candidate reiterated his determination to contribute to the development of Brava Island. “I participated in this journey with great enthusiasm and I fully believe in victory. It was a process marked by responsibility and the desire to contribute to the progress of our island,” he stated.
The election on Brava Island has 23 polling stations, where 138 members are responsible for overseeing the process. In total, 4,718 voters are eligible to vote. The candidates for the position of mayor are Amândio Brito, from the PAICV, and Francisco Tavares, from the Movement for Democracy (MpD).
In the 2020 municipal elections, the MpD won 14 municipal councils, while the PAICV won eight. The result of this election will be decisive for the political future of Brava Island.
