USA: Cape Verdean media mourns the death of journalist Valdir Alves
Journalist Valdir Alves died, this Friday, in the USA, victim of a prolonged illness. For many years and throughout his journalistic career, Alves was the voice of Cape Verdeans in the United States of America, where he was the producer and founder of the television programs Cabo Vídeo and Porton di Nos Ilha. He has worked as a journalist since 1985, having worked at Rádio Nacional de Cabo Verde after having received training with professionals from TSF radio and the Journalism Training Center (CENJOR) in Portugal.

The Cape Verdean media is in mourning with the death, this Friday, in the USA, of journalist Valdir Alves, a victim of a prolonged illness. For many years and throughout his journalistic career, Alves was the voice of Cape Verdeans in the US. He has worked as a journalist since 1985, having worked at Rádio Nacional de Cabo Verde after receiving training with professionals from TSF and CENJOR in Portugal.
In the United States he was founder, producer and presenter of the television program Cabo Vídeo and also of the radio program “Porton di Nos Ilha”, from 1996 to 2015.
Valdir Alves was also host of the program “Saudades de Cabo Verde” on Rádio Voz do Emigrante and collaborator of Rádio “Nha Terra” in Boston, as well as editor of the newspaper Caboverdeonline.com.
He was also one of the founders and editor of the newspapers “Correio do Imigrante” and “Nôs Jornal”. He worked as a collaborator for Rádio de Cabo Verde, Televisão de Cabo Verde and Radio France Internacional.” He was also a great friend and collaborator of the newspaper A Semana.
