Fábio Vieira sworn in on Monday as president of the Association of Municipalities of Fogo and Brava
The president of the Municipal Council of Mosteiros, Fábio Vieira, will be sworn in next Monday, 20th, as president of the Association of Municipalities of Fogo and Brava, replacing Nuías Silva.
Elected last August after overcoming the impasse that reigned in the Association of Municipalities of Fogo and Brava (AMFB) in relation to the presidency, Fábio Vieira is sworn in during the II ordinary session of the assembly of the association of the municipalities of Fogo and Brava which takes place in the city of Igreja, Mosteiros.
In addition to inaugurating the president and other members of the board of directors of the Association of Municipalities of Fogo and Brava, this session of the intermunicipal assembly also includes the provision of some information by the president, the analysis of the transformation process of the Development Office Regional (GDR) in a Regional Development Agency (ADR), analysis of the situation and functioning of the association's bodies, among others.
Created in 1999, the AMFB's general objective is to promote, defend, dignify and represent the local power of associated municipalities, as well as the defense and integration of the economic and social policies of its members, regardless of the specific responsibilities of each municipality.
Its statute also provides for the carrying out of studies and projects on relevant issues relating to local government, projects of economic and social impact, as well as monitoring their implementation in the general interest of members.
Develop and approve the region's development plan, create services and offices designed to pursue its purposes and those of its members, implement training actions for local elected officials and professional development of Local Administration staff and deconcentrated State services and develop actions which aim at better coordination between local government and the different services deconcentrated in the region, are other purposes that were the basis for the creation of the AMFB.
