Fogo: Águabrava General Assembly to renew the company’s governing bodies without a defined date
The General Assembly of the Intermunicipal Water Company, Águabrava, to renew the corporate bodies, initially scheduled for September, does not yet have a defined date, said the president of the General Assembly, Fábio Vieira.
Following the meeting last August, which ended in an impasse in the renewal of Águabrava's corporate bodies, it was decided to hold a meeting in September to overcome the situation.
“We are finalizing a date for the general assembly because Nuías Silva (São Filipe) and Alberto Nunes (Santa Catarina do Fogo) are outside the country”, said Fábio Vieira, hoping that it will happen as soon as possible to the renewal of Águabrava's corporate bodies because the Board of Directors is obliged to only carry out day-to-day management and is not legitimized to make important decisions about the company's future.
The dissent in the renewal of the corporate bodies was related to the issue of electing the Company's PCA, which was not the case in relation to the administrator/delegate, as the two proposals had the same name for this position.
Fábio Vieira said that the two municipalities that represent 85% of the company's revenue, in this case São Filipe and Mosteiros, should not be left out of the Board of Directors, stressing that it is these types of issues that lead to the need to review the statutes .
At the time, São Filipe's proposal, signed by Mosteiros, indicated Fábio Vieira, president of the Mosteiros council, to succeed Nuías Silva as PCA of the company, on the grounds that the two municipalities represent around 85% of the turnover, and Brava , signed by Santa Catarina do Fogo proposed Francisco Tavares, president of the Brava chamber for PCA and Alberto Nunes for non-executive director, based on the principle that Brava never assumed the presidency of the company.
Regarding the Association of Municipalities of Fogo and Brava, Fábio Vieira has already assumed the role of president of the association on an interim basis, just waiting for the date of inauguration that must take place in a session of the Intermunicipal Assembly that must be called by its president Luís Alves.
