The president of the Brava Football Association (AFB) said today that he still does not know the clubs that will participate in competitions this season, but admitted that the number could be higher than in the previous season.

The information was advanced to Inforpress by Samuel Varela, indicating that they are already working on the preparation of the season, in constant dialogue with the Cabo Verdean Football Federation (FCF).

According to the same source, the association is already aware of the existence of the contingency plan and is waiting for its socialization to be able to work in accordance with the plan.

Regarding the clubs that may participate in the sporting season, which as it progressed will already start a little late compared to previous years, he underlined that many of the managers have questioned about the beginning and the procedures by which the season will work.

Especially because, he stressed that many clubs are still a little reticent in relation to the hiring of players, taking into account the situation in the country and in the world.

Hence, Samuel Varela commented that they will suggest extending the deadline for registration on the Cabo Verde Connect platform, because not all teams on the island have registered and even at the level of national associations there is information that there are teams that have not yet registered.

This situation should be “revealed”, as he considered that there is an “unknown” and clubs are not risking making investments without the proper guarantees of how the sporting season will work.

At this point, he added that "possibly" the Furna Youth club that did not participate in the two previous seasons and even the Benfica club that had also been absent in the previous season could participate again.

In addition, he underlined that some clubs still do not have an organized management, but he says he believes that “there is still time”.

Samuel Varela took the opportunity to ask for the engagement of all clubs and managers, because according to him, everyone is already aware of the situation that the country is going through and “football is no exception to the rule”.

"We all must do our best to have our tests and that they can take place with greater serenity, tranquility, respecting everything that will be the health laws that will be the code of conduct during the organization of the tests", concluded the person in charge.
