In response to the statements made by his successor, Manuel Teixeira, that there was no handover of portfolios, the former president recalled that, immediately after the elections, he invited the new president to a meeting between the two of them, where the general situation of the municipality, the organization of the chamber and its functioning were discussed.

The meeting, he explained, lasted approximately two hours and aimed to present the municipality and provide guidance on municipal management and finances.

Alberto Nunes explained that a second meeting was held with the participation of the outgoing and elected teams, where each councilor presented their respective portfolios and presented the pending projects.

In the meetings, he highlighted, he always reinforced his commitment to collaborate with the new management and ensure the continuity of projects financed for the municipality and tasked the IUP (Single Property Tax) office with providing all information regarding the heritage and the municipal secretary with providing information on the functioning and the financial part.

Alberto Nunes said that he explained to the new president the reasons why he could not be present at the inauguration, but mentioned that the former vice president and the former director of the office were present at his request.

Regarding the issue of financial resources, Alberto Nunes mentioned that, less than a month before the elections, the council received two buses and a 'hiace', resources that could have been left in the account for the new administration and he also recalled that he paid the December salary to all employees.

"The chamber is different from commercial banks and private companies, it does not aim for profits", stated Alberto Nunes.

Regarding municipal debt, the former president recalled that, in 2016, the inherited chamber had a critical financial scenario, with debts and structural problems, such as the destruction of Chã das Caldeiras.

Despite this, the former president of the chamber highlighted that his administration managed to mobilize resources, with the support of the government, to face the difficulties.

"The important thing is that we left a completely different municipality than the one we found in 2016. The investments made justify the resources mobilized," said Alberto Nunes, for whom it is normal for all municipalities to leave debts, but that the legacy of his administration was positive, with significant investments that contributed to the development of Santa Catarina.

The former president also addressed the situation of the monitor hired for the kindergarten and that it is up to the new management to choose whether to keep a young single mother for the position, but he defended the continuation of the contract.

When commenting on the state of the municipality, Alberto Nunes mentioned that the Santa Catarina chamber continues to be the “main employer in the municipality”, but that the redistribution of employees according to the needs of the services and the mobilization of resources are essential for development.

For the same, the new management has the right to implement changes and this should not be seen as “persecution”, but as part of the natural transition process.
