Francisco Carvalho in the race for PAICV leadership
The current President of the Praia City Council, Francisco Carvalho, announced this Thursday, 2nd, his availability to run for the leadership of the PAICV.
With no date yet set, the election of the President of the PAICV should be scheduled for the weekend, when the National Council of the PAICV meets in Praia.
In a post on social media, Francisco Carvalho says he feels “obliged to do even more” for his Party, hence his decision to run for office.
“I am putting myself forward as a candidate for the presidency of the PAICV, for an inclusive, participatory management, which rescues the past of our great ideals, in balance with the modernity that the future demands of us”, wrote the politician who declared that he was “very proud” of his “deep connection” to the PAICV.
Rui Semedo, current President of PAICV, has not yet said whether he will run or not.
