Nho Djeca Foundation seeks support to renovate facilities at Nho Djeca Children's Garden in Nova Sintra
Cidade Nova Sintra, April 11, 2025 (Bravanews), - Inspired by the early education received by Professor Nhô Djeca, Carlos A. Leitão and his collaborators have created a foundation to help improve the educational and infrastructural conditions of the Nhô Djeca Kindergarten in Vila Nova Sintra, with the aim of providing a solid educational foundation for children in the community. Currently, the institution serves 35 students aged between 2 and 5, providing formal education, important social experiences and a daily meal during opening hours from 8am to 12pm.
For the foundation, the site where the kindergarten operates is in a state of serious deterioration due to years of neglect. Aware of the urgency of the situation, Carlos A. Leitão sought the support of the local authorities, speaking personally with the Mayor of Brava, who showed openness and promised to help the cause.
Looking to the future, Leitão's vision for the Nho Djeca Kindergarten is ambitious and transformative. The long-term goal is to expand opening hours to 8 to 10 hours a day, offering at least two nutritious meals in a safe and completely renovated environment. This expansion would allow for an even more complete development of the children, preparing them more effectively for the challenges of elementary school.
To realize this vision and ensure the sustainability of the project, the Nho Djeca Foundation was created. The foundation's main mission will be to raise funds for the urgent refurbishment of the current building and its ongoing maintenance, ensuring a suitable and welcoming space for the children.
The planned renovations aim to completely revitalize the building, creating more spacious and safer classrooms, adequate play areas and renovated sanitary facilities. It is believed that a quality physical environment will have a direct impact on students' learning and well-being, providing a solid foundation for their educational future.
