Government approves Career, Functions and Remuneration Plan for teaching staff
The Government approved a decree-law on the Career, Functions and Remuneration Plan (PCFR) for teaching staff, to come into force on January 1, 2025, and is now awaiting promulgation by the President of the Republic.
The announcement was made by the Prime Minister, Ulisses Coreeia e Silva, on his page on the Facebook social network and clarified that the PCFR defines a new salary framework, that is, a minimum remuneration level, more favorable than the status of teaching staff in force
According to the new PCFR, teaching staff with a degree go from a monthly salary of 78,678$00 to 91,000$00, as their basic career salary.
Kindergarten teachers with a degree now have a base salary of 73,000$00, teaching staff without a degree go from 23,209$00 to 55,000$00.
A kindergarten teacher without a degree now has a minimum salary of 37,000$00, said the same source.
“Based on these minimum reference salaries, all teachers’ salary positions will be updated, effective January 1, 2025,” said the Prime Minister.
In addition to the remuneration system, the PCFR defines job descriptions, teaching staff management procedures and work provision regimes, in addition to other work-related matters.
The National Union of Teachers (Sindep) has scheduled a conference today, at 10:00, to comment on the proposed decree-law that approves the new PCFR for teaching staff presented by the Government.
