For Fernando Elísio Freire, who was speaking to the media this morning, at the usual press conference, this concert will be a moment of Cape Verdeanity and to demonstrate the unity of the Nation in an “extremely” difficult moment.

Taking into account the moment the country is experiencing, the State of Calamity and health rules, the Government of Cape Verde will hold a large online concert for the country and diaspora, as a way to celebrate the 45th anniversary of National Independence .

For Fernando Elísio Freire, who was speaking to the media this morning, at the usual press conference, this concert will be a moment of Cape Verdeanity and to demonstrate the unity of the Nation in an “extremely” difficult moment.

The main objective of this event is to celebrate Cape Verde's independence day, in a format that suits the new reality in which we live, maintaining the social distance that is a fundamental factor in combating the pandemic.

The activity, with a maximum duration of 4 hours, will involve artists, event producers, cuisine and all the quality of the country in the various sectors of activity.

The Concert will be preceded by two moments, the first being the placing of flowers at the Amílcar Cabral Memorial, the second, the Solemn Session in the National Assembly, both accompanied by protocol activities respecting the health plan and the State of Calamity, that is, the presence of the entities will be smaller, and the third, the big online concert.

“These three moments that I have just announced are to give the greatest possible dignity to the celebration of the 45 years of independence with the restrictions demanded by the moment, but which the Government does not want to stop celebrating with the dignity that our country deserves”, says Freire.
