Government promotes celebrations of the National Day of Fishermen in various locations in the country
The Government, through the Ministry of the Sea, promotes, Saturday and Sunday, in the various fishing communities of the country, the celebration of the National Day of Fishermen, with mass, boat trips and delivery of fiber artisanal fishing vessels.

For this year, according to the delegate of the Ministry of the Sea, Vera Gominho, the event will be celebrated in almost all the islands and municipalities that have a coastline, under the motto “We love the sea”.
Rincão, Calheta de São Miguel, Praia Baixo, Santa Cruz and Achada Grande are some of the locations on the island of Santiago that will host the activities, which will also be held on the islands of Sal, Maio, São Vicente, São Nicolau and Fogo with lectures, open conversation, cultural animation.
The start of activities is scheduled for Saturday, at 10:00 am, in the fishing community of Santa Cruz, followed by the judges' ceremony, boat baptism, boat trip and lunch.
“Open conversations” will also be held to reflect on the challenges and gains of the same class.
On the same day, the Minister of the Sea, Abraão Vicente, will deliver 13 fiberglass artisanal fishing vessels, in Praia, within the scope of public notice number 1, at national level, financed by the ministry through the Autonomous Fisheries Fund.
