History in Brava - Municipal Assembly unanimously approves Budget and Activity Plan for 2025
Nova Sintra City, April 15, 2025 (Bravanews) - In a feat considered unprecedented in the political history of the island of Brava, the City Council saw its Budget and Activity Plan for the year 2025 unanimously approved by the Municipal Assembly. The vote, which took place in two plenary sessions, ordinary and extraordinary, saw the favorable vote of the 13 deputies who make up the deliberative body, 7 of whom are representatives of the Movement for Democracy (MpD), the party currently in opposition, and 6 of the African Party for the Independence of Cape Verde (PAICV), the political force that leads the municipality.

"It's a moment of great joy and a demonstration of responsibility on the part of all those elected by the people of Brava. Having the Budget and the Activity Plan approved unanimously puts the municipality in a strong position to continue with the projects and actions for the development of our island. Now, we have in our hands the two main working instruments for the year," said Amândio Brito.
For his part, Samuel Varela, MpD deputy in the Municipal Assembly, stressed that his party's stance, despite being in opposition, will be one of collaboration and focus on the well-being of the Bravense population. "The MpD, as an opposition force, does not intend to be an obstacle to the development of Brava. We understand that, on crucial issues such as the Budget and the Activity Plan, the interests of Brava must prevail over political differences. That's why we voted in favor and reaffirmed our commitment to putting Brava first," said the MpD MP.
