Inspired by African culture, floating triangle houses rock Cape Verde with live music
Inspired by African culture, three triangular-shaped floating houses attract tourists to Cape Verde. Named Floating Music Hub, they offer live music, a bar, recording studio and an event area, all celebrating local culture. Sustainable and safe, the floating structure is a success in the country and serves as an inspiration to the world.
Anyone who visits the island of São Vicente in Cape Verde cannot fail to be impressed by three unique triangular-shaped floating structures. Named Floating Music Hub, they not only attract attention with their design, but also offer a unique experience that combines African culture, live music and a beach atmosphere.
Created by Nigerian architect Kunlé Adeyemi and his company NLÉ ("at home" in Yoruba), the project goes beyond being a tourist attraction. The Floating Music Hub is made up of three prefabricated modules, which allows for easy assembly and disassembly. Sustainability and accessibility are also keywords for NLÉ, which uses local wood in construction and designs amphibious floating houses for different purposes.
But what really brings Floating Music Hub to life is its celebration of African culture. Each triangular module has a specific function: a bar to enjoy drinks and snacks, a recording studio for local artists and a multifunctional room for shows and cultural events. At night, the floating square next to the modules becomes a place to socialize and enjoy the musical program.
The inspiration for the floating base came from local fishing, using triangular concrete piles to ensure stability. In addition to being a tourist attraction, the floating structure also offers a safe solution to the threats of climate change.
The Floating Music Hub is a success in Cape Verde and demonstrates how architecture can be used to promote culture, sustainability and social development. The project serves as an inspiration for other communities seeking innovative solutions to the challenges of today's world.
