Dariana Gonçalves Fernandes, 23 years old, is from Brava Island. 5 years ago he moved to Cidade da Praia , in order to study nursing. From the church to the stages of the world, Darii with a stage name wants to grace the public with his gift of singing. Possessing a powerful voice, Darii was embraced by the producer Scuta Music Production and they are already working on their first album.

Darii is proud to say that he took his first steps in the church, his base.

“I'm Catholic and, according to my mother, since I was a little girl I sang in church even though I couldn't read. It wasn't until I was 17 that I began to sing traditional and international songs”.

The turnaround in his music world began on the island of Brava, where he met the renowned producer Ney Miranda, also a multi-instrumentalist who had come from the USA, to work on a personal project “Djabraba ten talent” which aims to give opportunities to people from Brava with musical talent. Through this project, Darii recorded two songs (“Mundo malvado” by Maria de Barros and “Mal de Amor” by Eugénio Tavares).

It was precisely from these recordings that the mentor of Scuta Music Production, Armando Madeira (Mandú), a Cape Verdean from Brava, living in the USA, became immediately interested in his voice and way of singing, to the point of leaving immediately for the management of young Darii.

Mandú's steps were firm, quick and decisive: recording with Darii that he saw the hand of luck through these two people.

“Today we are working together on my first album. These two people helped me immensely. I don't have any background in music, all I know is the gift that God gave me. With them, I'm learning the technical part and right now I'm studying and working to be able to get where I want to be. In addition to the technical part, they always motivate me.”

Darii has since shared her routine with studio life.

“I've already recorded some singles that will be part of the album and there are others to be recorded. There are 11 in total. Half of the recording is done. The idea is that the album will be released very soon.”

The album will feature compositions by Darii herself, arranged by Ney Miranda, who features extraordinary musicians who live in the United States, including some brothers, as well as songs by the well-known Benvindo Cruz (also produced by Scuta) and Boy G Mendes.

It is recalled that Dariana Fernandes came from the island of Brava to the capital city of Santiago 5 years ago, to study nursing. An area that enchants her, as much as music, which is why, at this moment, she believes that she will reconcile the two things, prioritizing human life, through Nursing.

“I'm going to combine music and nursing, because I like both. If I am on stage and I am needed as a nurse, I choose the latter because human life comes first.”

Catholic since always, Darii Fernandes has been part of the group, JU -“Jovens Unidos” from the parish of Tira Chapéu since he arrived.

“I participated in some festivals as part of this group and we even won prizes. I wrote the lyrics for the songs we sang at festivals. They were all religious. I've already written about 5 songs, being in church. I hope to one day make this a project too.”

It should be noted that Scuta is an agency that was founded in 2012, in the United States of America, by Cape Verdean Armando Madeira. The institution already has in its catalog some renowned names in Cape Verdean music, including renowned singers, including: Benvindo Cruz and Quirino do Canto and instrumentalists John Miranda and Ney Miranda.

Scuta's main objective is to bring people the best of Cape Verdean music and its artists, residing in the archipelago and in the diaspora.
