Francisco Tavares, surveying the damage caused by the rains, particularly on the islands of Brava and Fogo, said that at the moment all the localities already have car connections, with the exception of Fajã d'Água, which requires, as he highlighted, deeper cleaning work. .

According to the mayor, at least seven boats were affected by the water, leaving three completely buried in the town of Fajã d'Água and another partially buried in the town of Tantum, northeast of the island.

There were also problems, he reported, on roads and streets flooded by water in the towns of Nova Sintra and Furna, with damage to protective walls, sidewalks and access roads to the regions.

“In view of this entire situation, there were no injuries or loss of life. In relation to material losses, the city council will see how it can help and also, together with the company Estradas de Cabo Verde, see the interventions to be carried out on national and municipal roads”, he guaranteed, adding that he was visiting the families to make survey of the situation.

Next week, he assured, the necessary investments will be made to restore normality to the island and clean the roads to clear 100 percent (%) of the roads affected by the rains.
