In the last few hours, there has been a lot of speculation about a possible alliance between me and PAICV Brava, to make municipal management instruments viable, in various parts of the Island.

João Paulo Silva denies alliance with PAICV/Brava

I, João Paulo Silva, Municipal Deputy for the 2024-2028 term, vehemently deny any type of negotiation or political agreement with the African Party for the Independence of Cape Verde (PAICV - Brava). Consider this an official statement from me. I categorically state that there is no basis and never has been any speculation about a possible alliance between me and the PAICV Brava, for the exchange of favors or positions.

"I would like to make it clear that recent speculation about a possible rapprochement between João Paulo Silva and the PAICV is completely unfounded and lacks any factual basis. There has not been, there is not and there will not be any type of negotiation or political agreement in this regard."

I have consistently defended the ideology of the MpD, my party. I would like to emphasize that the political vision of the MpD, based on the precepts of freedom and democracy, is also my vision and is what significantly distances me from the proposals and values of the PAICV.

"I believe that our vision for the future of Brava is distinct and offers a clear alternative to the people of Brava. An alliance with PAICV Brava would compromise our principles and our ability to represent the interests of those who believe in freedom and democracy."

I would also like to clarify that my friendship with the candidate elected as Mayor of Brava, Amândio Brito, goes far beyond the political sphere. No matter who it hurts, I will not fail to visit him at his home, to greet him or to receive him at the residence where I live. Furthermore, as an elected official, I have the obligation to help him govern, for the good of Brava and for the good of the people of Brava, and I am convinced that he will also know how to listen to proposals from the opposition, make analyses and make the best decisions for the good of the Municipality.

One thing must be clear to all Bravenses: FROM NEXT MONDAY, AMÂNDIO BRITO WILL BE 'MY PRESIDENT', too!

I strongly ask those who are using my name in public, trying to condition the vote for the Municipal Assembly Board for the 2024-2028 term, to please not do so.

People are calling me, approaching me on the street, congratulating me for my courage in joining PAICV Brava, please stop! The people who are spreading these fallacies about me and also about PAICV Brava, I ask you to stop. You are mistreating and insulting a Bravense, your fellow countryman, who does no harm to anyone, quite the opposite.

I would also like to make it clear that I have no enemies in the PAICV Brava, I have no enemies anywhere! The people who were on the PAICV Brava Lists are my work colleagues, my neighbors, my acquaintances, etc. Therefore, and for those who are trying to put me in conflict with my comrades in the MpD Brava, they will never succeed!

To all the Elected, after Monday, we will have responsibilities. The people ordered and entrusted the destiny of this small island into our hands. Therefore, we have this obligation to resolve the challenges [which are not few] of Brava together.

To my friend and outgoing Mayor Francisco Tavares, I have no words. Thank you for the enormous contribution you have made as Mayor of Brava and I know that you will continue to make to the well-being of the people of Brava and to the development of the Island.

To the future Mayor, my friend Amândio Brito, I wish you the greatest achievements as head of the Municipality. I am with you to help you on your journey. I will never forget our conversations, in which Brava always comes first. Success, 'Illustrious'!

I would also like to thank the party's members and supporters for their trust and unconditional support. "I count on the understanding and support of all those who believe in our political project. Together, we will continue to work to build a fairer, more prosperous Brava with more opportunities for all."

Thank you to all those who have been together during these years in the Municipal Assembly.

To the future President of the Municipal Assembly of Brava, friend and good person, Ivone Cardoso, I have the following to say: count on me!

I am convinced that my political maturity leads me to consider the possibility of being a Candidate for National Deputy for the Brava Electoral Circle in 2026. But the future belongs to God!
