John Benros thanks everyone who supported the Caboverdianos 5k project
City of Nova Sintra, January 25, 2025 (Bravanews) - The "Caboverdeans 5k" event held recently on Brava Island was a milestone of success, standing out not only for the number of participants, but also for the strong demonstration of solidarity and support for the Cape Verdean community, read, Bravense.
John Benros, the race organizer, did not hold back words of gratitude when expressing his appreciation to everyone involved in holding this event which, for many, was a true celebration of the culture and unity of the Bravense people.
In a social media post, Benros publicly thanked all the people and organizations that made the event possible. He stressed the importance of local support and emphasized how the race’s success was the result of a collective effort, highlighting the collaboration of several partners and volunteers.
"The event was a success. I would like to thank Mayor Amandio Brito, the local Police/Fire Department, and everyone who came out to help. Everyone's support was greatly appreciated," Benros wrote. Indeed, the support of the city administration and local authorities was essential to the safety and smooth running of the race, which was well-organized with logistics and the active presence of volunteers who dedicated themselves to making the race a positive experience for all participants.
Furthermore, the event had a significant impact on the community of Brava, as there were no direct costs to the island. The race was fully funded by Caboverdeans 5k, which once again demonstrated its commitment to social and cultural causes. “This event was free of charge for Brava. Caboverdeans 5k donated everything and I personally thank Pastor Bala for the donation, which was a great help,” said Benros, highlighting the generosity of the contribution that made the event even more special.
The race was not only a sporting event, but also a great celebration of Cape Verdean culture, bringing together people of all ages and backgrounds. The community responded enthusiastically, and many participants were moved by the opportunity to contribute to such a meaningful cause. In addition, he has already announced the next date of the event, scheduled for July 13, 2025, in East Providence. "See everyone soon as we prepare for the Caboverdeans 5k on July 13, 2025 in East Providence," said Benros, inviting the community to come together once again to make this new edition an even greater event.
