The current president of the Tarrafal City Council, José Freitas, announced today his candidacy as an independent in this year's local elections.
In a press release in the city of Tarrafal, José Freitas stated that his candidacy for another term as mayor of Tarrafal is “motivated by the engagement of the people”, as well as the “desire to continue serving and working to develop Tarrafal”.
According to him, during his 12 years in office, the municipality achieved “significant gains in the most diverse areas”, such as education, infrastructure, social promotion, fishing, agriculture, sanitation and other areas.
“Today, the transformation and considerable gains of this municipality are visible. Tarrafal is more than just a place on the map; today it has all the conditions to live with more dignity, to visit and to invest”, he stressed.
However, he acknowledges that there are still challenges that persist, but he believes that with the experience and knowledge acquired over the years it will be possible to overcome them.
The candidate emphasizes that his team has a clear vision to continue working towards sustainable and inclusive development and to consolidate the achievements made so far.
“For the next term we intend to materialize the municipal market project, the long-awaited sports pavilion, requalification of the avenue, Praia Branca grass field, professional training center (...) and continue the requalification of all neighborhoods”, he highlighted.
José Freitas believes he “has all the conditions to win the local elections” and highlights that his candidacy is supported by suitable, responsible people who are committed to the future of Tarrafal.
