“Kriola” loses propeller: CV Interilhas resorts to national shipowners to guarantee connections

The ferry boat Kriola suffered a technical malfunction which, according to information provided by Cabo Verde Interilhas in a statement, made it impossible to carry out the usual trip to the islands of Fogo and Brava yesterday. The ship will join the Praia d´Aguada, which is already at Cabnave shipyards undergoing routine maintenance.

As Mindelinsite was able to find out, the ship lost one of its propellers, so it will have to go up to the Cabnave shipyards to check its entire system. Without a date to resume travel, and taking into account that the company was already one boat short due to routine maintenance on Praia d´Aguada, CV Interilhas will reschedule its operations.

We still don't have a forecast of when Kriola will be operational. The ferry has lost a propeller and will have to go up to Cabnave to carry out checks on its entire system. Meanwhile, the maritime connection between the islands of Santiago, Fogo and Brava can be taken over by national shipowners”, informs, in an exclusive to Mindelinsite, the communication and marketing manager of CV Interilhas, Jorge Martins.

In the meantime, he continues, the company has several solutions on the table, which can go through the partnership it has with national shipowners who can provisionally take over the maritime connections Fogo, Brava and Santiago. “The company is working and making every effort and available means to find alternative solutions for passengers and cargo”, reinforces the press release issued by CVI.

In conclusion, he recalls that he recently added the Sotavento ship to his routes with the main objective of strengthening connections and maintaining normal operations. Even so, he asks passengers and the general public for understanding and collaboration until the situation is normalized.
