The Mayor of Brava is being accused by some citizens of favoritism towards militants and friends of the MpD in decisions related to requests for commercial licenses.
The most current case concerns a request for a license to open a bar on Rua da Cultura that was denied, on the grounds that there are already enough bars on Brava, while authorizing the opening of another one in the official residence, as reported here.
According to some, as he approaches the electoral campaigns and with his eyes set on the October elections, Francisco Walter Tavares wants to equip the MpD herd, to “see if he can get elected, if he is chosen to lead the MpD list on Brava”.
