The mayor of Brava, Francisco Tavares, guaranteed today that the city council team will continue to look for funding to carry out works that place the island on another level.

The mayor gave this guarantee in statements to Inforpress, within the framework of the activities carried out to mark the Municipality Day, celebrated on June 24, but with activities that started some time in advance and that continued after this day, but also presented the perspectives for another year that still remains in his mandate.

Speaking of the island's challenges, the mayor elected from the list of the Movement for Democracy (MpD) stressed that the council will continue to look for funding to implement the electoral program that ends in October/November of next year, with the holding of new elections. .

Meanwhile, he showed that the team "is satisfied" because it has seen things happen and others are planned that "will put the island on another level", with government and municipal works, namely the continuity of the works on the desalination plant, the start of the works of construction of the new Health Center.

Along the same path, he announced a partnership that the municipality is establishing with a private party to ensure the presence of a boat that makes the connection Fogo – Brava and vice versa, the number of times necessary, stressing that all the repairs to the bridge have already been carried out. part of the boat's machinery and that within a month they intend to enter the phase of seeking and mobilizing all the financing to make the boat arrive in the country and that the Government already has a guarantee that the vessel will be licensed as a tourist operation.

He also advanced that the municipality will continue to ask the Government for a new rhythm in the works on the Fajã d´Água road, and that clear signs of the construction of the new road to link Fajã d´Água – Esparadinha – Palhal, but also to that the municipality continues to finance the completion of the urban requalification of the Historic Center, new streets, funding for the sports board of Palhal, and continue works of direct support to families, among others.

Referring to the activities carried out within the framework of the Municipality Day festivities, Francisco Tavares made a “positive” assessment, stressing that there is one or another aspect that needs to be improved, and that within what is possible these improvements will be made.

The mayor spoke of the complaints made by the public in relation to the two days of musical show, but he underlined that what needs to be improved also involves a clear clarification, to all citizens, about what a municipality of the size of Brava can really do , because, he reinforced, “everyone has the desire to have the best and greatest artists, but it is necessary to weigh how much it costs”.

“Revenues from concerts on Brava do not exceed two thousand contos, so it is totally impossible to have certain types of artists on Brava”, he announced, emphasizing that this would be possible if the city council had such a large financial slack to subsidize more than that. that it has subsidized at the moment, but which would also have other consequences.

In other aspects, he also gave a positive note for being two young people from Brave who competed to organize this event, justifying that it was the first time, but that it is something to be improved over the years, through practice.

But he also gave a positive note to all the activities carried out around the flag, which complied with all the programming and tradition, the part of the São João tents, the sports activities.

He recalled that the agricultural fair had a "record" of participants and everyone left satisfied, highlighting the emigrants party which was a partnership between the chamber and some private individuals, among other activities that were carried out.
