On February 6, the Mayor of Brava, Amândio Semedo Brito, received Dr. Rui Levy, representative of UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organization), for a highly productive meeting. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss concerns and strategies related to the joint United Nations program, a collaboration between the Chamber of Commerce and Services (CCS), UNIDO and the UNDP (United Nations Development Program).

The main agenda of the meeting was the implementation of a business incubator, an initiative with great potential for the economic development of the region. This project aims to expand its reach, initially centered on Brava, to the islands of Fogo and Brava, promoting a more favorable environment for local entrepreneurship and stimulating the creation of new businesses. The idea is to turn the incubator into a regional platform that will enable companies to be strengthened and new jobs to be created, thus contributing to the sustainable growth of the local economy.
During the meeting, Dr. Rui Levy presented various strategies to strengthen the effectiveness of the program, addressing not only the structure of the incubator, but also the training of entrepreneurs, access to financing and the strengthening of business networks. The discussion also involved the need to develop public policies that create a more favorable environment for the private sector, stimulating innovation and the competitiveness of companies in the region.
One of the highlights of the meeting was the handing over of a laptop computer to Brava Town Hall, a symbolic gesture that reflects UNIDO's commitment to the development of entrepreneurship and the private sector on the island. This equipment is part of the RFG Entrepreneurship and Private Sector Development project, and aims to equip the council with tools to facilitate the implementation of initiatives aimed at supporting entrepreneurship and local development.
Mayor Amândio Semedo Brito took the opportunity to reaffirm the Brava City Council's commitment to fostering entrepreneurship and sustainable growth on the island. "This meeting is a clear demonstration of the joint effort to promote the economic and social progress of our community. Brava City Council will continue to work in partnership with international and local organizations to ensure that our region is more prosperous and that the potential of our entrepreneurs is fully harnessed," he said.
The meeting with the UNIDO representative marks an important step in the implementation of a project that has the power to transform the local economy, create new business opportunities and strengthen the region's entrepreneurial fabric. The Brava City Council is committed to continuing these initiatives and working together with the partner entities to achieve sustainable and economic development goals.
With this collaboration, it is hoped that the future of Brava and the neighboring islands of Fogo will be increasingly promising, with a more dynamic environment for entrepreneurs and greater integration between the local and global business communities.
