The government official gave this guarantee in statements to Inforpress, having recalled that the Government from the beginning defined that TACV should focus only on international flights and that this is reflected in the business plan.

“Very recently, there was information, but the administration quickly made a justification and a communication to the press, clearly saying that TACV will not return to internal flights. Yes, in partnership with other operators, it will take advantage of the flights that can be made between islands due to international travel”, he explained, highlighting that TACV will make this use and monetize these flights that are made due to travel to other destinations.

The minister welcomed, on the other hand, the resumption of routes to three European destinations, namely Portugal, France and Italy, informing that destinations to the United States and Brazil will be opened very soon.

In March 2019, the State of Cape Verde sold 51% of TACV for 1.3 million euros to Lofleidir Cabo Verde, a company 70% owned by Loftleidir Icelandic EHF (Icelandair group, which held 36% of Cabo Verde Airlines) and 30% by Icelandic businesspeople with experience in the aviation sector (who took over the remaining 15% of the 51% privatized share).

However, following the company's shutdown during the Covid-19 pandemic, the State assumed a 51% stake in TACV on July 6, 2021, alleging several breaches in management by Icelandic investors and immediately dissolved the corporate bodies. .

Since December 2021, the company has resumed the Praia-Lisbon connection, extended in 2022 from the Portuguese capital to the islands of Sal and São Vicente.
