The general secretary of the MpD, Luís Carlos Silva, revealed to Inforpress that all the instruments for choosing candidates have already been approved and that they are currently investigating the information through surveys and profile evaluation, ensuring that the list will soon be announced .

“The MpD is not concerned with who the candidate is, we are concerned with having the most inclusive process possible, involving all party structures in the process in order to reach the best solution and thus be better prepared to face the local elections”, he said, stressing that the objective is to win the elections.

In his understanding, the dynamics of significant development in the City of Praia were interrupted by Francisco Carvalho's current city council team, resulting in a clear setback.

Luís Carlos Silva highlighted that now the mission is to regain leadership of the Praia City Council and, to this end, it is important that the party wins the elections and guarantees stability for the population at central and local level.

“All of our municipal councils have approved instruments. The MpD has been a firm supporter of our mayors and the important thing is to ensure that there are conditions of stability and governability and that these presidents and the Government can implement their program approved at the polls”, he explained.

The party that supports the Government, according to him, faces the next elections with “total positivity, availability and a spirit of mission”.

The president of the National Elections Commission (CNE) announced on July 13, 2023 that, with the last elections taking place in October, “it provides a basis” that this year they should be held between September and November.

As he explained, it is up to the Government to indicate the date of the upcoming municipal elections and that the CNE intends to draw up a “structured” plan for the 2024 elections that can incorporate the wishes of organizations and political parties.
