Brava Municipal Assembly without ordinary meetings in 2024
City of Nova Sintra, August 6, 2024 (Bravanews) - As has been happening in recent years and in order not to deviate from the rule, the Municipal Assembly has not held any ordinary meeting to date. The two sessions scheduled for the first semester, February and April, were not held and without any official explanation.
The February meeting, which should have been used to assess the written report on the activities of the municipal executive bodies, and the April meeting, intended to analyze the management accounts, did not take place according to the established calendar. The absence of any communication or justification from the Assembly has generated concerns and speculation among residents and local authorities about transparency and the continuity of legislative work.
Failure to comply with these meetings, essential for the inspection and monitoring of municipal activities, leaves citizens and local institutions in the dark about the progress of public affairs and the use of municipal resources. The lack of an official position from the Municipal Assembly increases the need for clarification on the reasons behind the sessions not being held and the measures being taken to resolve the situation.
To date, there has been no official statement on when meetings will resume or whether there are plans to make up for missed sessions. The local community eagerly awaits a response and a return to normal legislative functions.
According to the legislation, failure to hold these meetings constitutes a serious illegality and is punishable by up to loss of mandate.
