Brava City Council (CMB) grants subsidies to football clubs and invests in the reconstruction of the Aquiles de Oliveira Stadium
City of Nova Sintra, July 25, 2024 (Bravanews) - This Thursday afternoon, the Brava City Council (CMB) reinforced its commitment to the development of local sport, delivering a significant subsidy to clubs participating in the Brava Regional Football Championship, referring to the 2023-24 season. The total amount allocated to this support amounts to 600,000 Cape Verdean escudos, distributed equally, with 150,000 escudos allocated to each of the four teams involved, namely Coroa, Morabeza, No Pintcha and Sporting.
In addition to this financial contribution, CMB announced an additional subsidy for the champion team, which will aim to support their participation in the National Football Championship. If the team overcomes the group stage, a second additional subsidy will be granted to assist with travel-related expenses.
For President Tavares, this gesture demonstrates the Brava municipality's commitment to strengthening local sport, providing a favorable environment for the development of football clubs in the region. The initiative also aims to encourage sporting talent, promote healthy competition and represent the island with dignity in national competitions.
In addition to supporting the clubs, Brava City Council reported that it recently completed a substantial investment in the reconstruction of the Aquiles de Oliveira Stadium wall. This stadium, a local sporting icon, suffered significant damage due to collapses caused by intense rains last September. The investment totaled more than 2,500,000 Cape Verdean escudos, providing not only the restoration of the site, but also structural improvements that aim to guarantee the safety and quality of the stadium.
This action by CMB is received with enthusiasm by the local sports community and represents a significant milestone in supporting sport and sports infrastructure on Brava Island.
