337 thousand and 83 voters are called, today, to the polls, to choose, until 6 pm, the presidents and councilors for the 22 municipal chambers of the country, as well as the presidents of the municipal assemblies and respective deputies, among the 65 candidates that present to the electoral process. At national level, 1,386 polling stations are organized.

In the middle of the morning, the president of the National Elections Commission (CNE) considered that the most critical period was already over, with the tables open and working.

Maria do Rosário, president of the CNE, recognizes some shortcomings registered in the first moments, in terms of logistical issues and the non-attendance of polling station members, but ensures that they were overcome, with the support of the General Directorate of Support for the Electoral Process (DGAPE).

The CNE president recognizes that the voting process takes longer this year, due to the observance of health issues, but considers that this should not have an impact on voter turnout, due to the decrease in voters in each polling station.

In this endeavor and for everything to run smoothly, the CNE says it counts on the National Police and the voters themselves, from whom they expect a responsible attendance at the polling stations.

In case of questions about polling places, voters should call 800 10 14.
