Amândio Brito, speaking to Inforpress, emphasized that absolute replacement should only happen when the municipality manages to restore the physical conditions of the commercial building and also guaranteed that
are working daily to mobilize conditions and resolve the problem "as quickly as possible".
"First of all, our focus is on helping the people who have been affected and from the outset we brought the shopkeepers together and shared the moment of anguish, and it was clear that we were willing to do everything we could to return things to normal," he stressed.
The council's attitude was brought to the attention of the government and was "very well received" by it, which subsequently sent two teams, one linked to the Ministry of Infrastructure, Spatial Planning and Housing and the other the Ministry of Family and Inclusion and Social Development.
"The two teams have done their work in surveying the specific situation with the relatives and the commercial establishment, and as a result we are sharing the results achieved in order to mobilize resources and reach the relatives," he said.
The mayor also said that some of the traders are no longer uninstalled, given that the municipality has been providing spaces for them to settle and lead their lives as normal.
"At the moment we have already surveyed the cost of restoring the market, especially the damaged part, but also the entire commercial building that was also in need of maintenance, that is, the building will be generally renovated," he concluded.
The commercial establishment located in the center of the town of Nova Sintra went up in flames in the early hours of March 26 and ten stores were totally consumed by the flames.
