A Bravense's Rant - The reality of our island and the lack of development

We transcribe in full the letter sent to Bravanews:

“I am extremely sad. I cannot understand what is happening to our Brava. The island is being forgotten, and we, the people of Brava, are feeling the consequences of this neglect firsthand. No one is caring about our basic needs, our families who are struggling to survive, our houses that are falling apart, without infrastructure, and the abandonment in which we find ourselves.

Just imagine, the MPD (Movement for Democracy) has been in power in Brava for 12 years. Twelve years that seem to have done nothing for Brava. The people are starving, families live in precarious conditions, without a safe roof over their heads. We are at the mercy of the charity of some, who try to help us with what little they can, but it is not enough. Houses are in poor condition, and people continue to live in undignified situations, without any real support. Even the water that reaches the houses is often not in adequate condition.

And when we look at politics, we see a party that, instead of taking care of the real needs of the people of Brava, is more concerned with aesthetic issues. It paints walls, puts stones on the walls, remodels some roads and cleans some access routes. But what about development? And the true transformation of the island? We see none of that. What is happening in Brava is a reflection of the lack of a mentality focused on true progress. This is a party that has no idea how to boost Brava's economy, that does not understand our reality, that does not care about our future.

It is frustrating to see that we already have proof that the MPD is incapable of making Brava move forward. It has been demonstrated more than once that they are unable to grow the island's economy, nor do they help with development. What they have done is continue the same old policies that do not bring any real benefits to our people. They only appear at election time, promising everything, but then disappear. The people of Brava are tired of this.

We, Brava residents, are an intelligent and hard-working people. We do not deserve to be treated this way, we do not deserve to continue living on crumbs while other islands advance. Brava is being left behind, and the blame lies with the mentality that persists here. We are not only being neglected by the government, but also by a lack of vision and commitment.

December 1st is coming, and this must be the day of change. The time to do something for Brava is now! We can no longer continue the way we are. We need concrete actions to change this reality. Enough of empty promises! We want jobs, we want solutions, we want to see our families well, we want to see our island grow and prosper.

It is time to open our eyes and take action. Enough of waiting for others to do it for us. If we do not act, Brava will continue to be treated as a forgotten island. We need a party that really has ideas, that has plans for the future of our land. The people of Brava need to be heard, we need more than just words, we need action!

December 1st will be a milestone. Let's fight for Brava, let's fight for our families, for our future. We can't stay quiet any longer, we can't wait any longer for them to give us what is rightfully ours. Let's change the history of our island, let's make Brava grow!

Enough empty promises, Brava deserves more!
