PAICV da Brava accuses the Mayor of Brava of harmful management, but hesitates to take the case to court
City of Nova Sintra, January 24, 2024 (Bravanews) - The African Party for the Independence of Cape Verde (PAICV) on the island of Brava raised accusations against the Mayor of Brava, Francisco Tavares, alleging harmful management, cronyism and misconduct of transparency in public management. However, despite allegations of crimes, PAICV has not yet taken legal action.
Francisco Tavares, President of the CMB, reacted, labeling the opposing party as "lost" and "liar". He accuses the opposition of launching defamatory attacks whenever local elections approach, with the aim of damaging its image and council management.
In statements, Tavares stated that it was "another act of desperation by a lost, lying party that always, when the year of local elections arrives, tries to reach me and my municipal management." He emphasized that the allegations made by the opposition are based on lies and falsehoods, and suggested that the opposing party is not prepared to understand the documents and municipal management options in Brava.
However, despite the strong words and accusations, the PAICV has not yet indicated whether it will take the case to court for formal investigation. This hesitation raises questions about the robustness of the allegations and whether the party is willing to legally confront the allegations made.
The political climate in Brava could heat up as local elections approach, with parties exchanging accusations and trying to consolidate voter support. It remains to be seen whether the PAICV will take legal action to support its allegations or whether the conflict will remain in the domain of public statements and verbal disputes.
