PR listens to the communities of Cachaço and Lomba Tantum

Within his proposal for a Presidency of proximity, José Maria Neves visited the communities of Cachaço and Lomba Tantum, to meet and talk with the locals.

Among their wishes are, above all, the issue of maritime transport to the island, access to water, unemployment. Cachaço is losing its young and male population who, desolate with the lack of options, soon decide to leave in search of other opportunities.

In Lomba Tantum, an almost exclusively fishing village, fishermen complain about the difficulties with the lack of maintenance of the cable car inaugurated in 2015.

Once capable of carrying up to 100 kg at a time uphill, fishermen say it can now barely carry 20 kg at a time.

The PR appeals to “republican ethics, that an infrastructure that has brought so much joy to this population is not lost, with a direct positive impact on their health and well-being, there are so many examples of men and women who have remained with column issues and others, due to the enormous effort to climb from the beach to the top of the village.

There, PR was able to witness some fishermen going up with the fish on their heads.
