PR receives New Year greetings from Prime Minister and Government
On this first day of New Year's Greetings, the President of the Republic, José Maria Neves, received a delegation representing the Government, led by the Prime Minister, Ulisses Correia e Silva. As he had done earlier with the representatives of the National Assembly, José Maria Neves reaffirmed his willingness to help in the search for consensus for the good of the country.
The President of the Republic assured the Head of Government and his collaborators that “they can count on the full collaboration of the President of the Republic so that we can all successfully achieve our objectives”.
Neves highlighted that the presentation of greetings to the President of the Republic “is also a moment that shows the entire country, all Cape Verdeans in the Islands and in the Diaspora, that the sovereign bodies must cooperate and seek bridges, understandings and consensus, carrying out the necessary collaboration so that the country's greater objectives are effectively fulfilled”.
José Maria Neves also highlighted the importance of institutional stability, a strong government and a strong opposition, especially in these difficult and complex times in the international situation.
However, recognizing the tendency for greater divergence in a pre-election year, Neves demonstrated confidence in the experience and maturity of political parties acquired in these 35 years of democracy to face challenges successfully.
