The President of the Republic received today, in audience, the Vice-president of the Association of Cape Verdean Students in Russia and student of Mechanical Aviation, Juliana Lima, who reported on the situation of Cape Verdean students in Russia and asked for their influence Judiciary to help resolve some issues that afflict them.
Among the issues addressed with the PR, Juliana reports the difficulties of 12 of the 35 students who still do not receive support from FICASE (mainly the younger ones), as well as the lack of an embassy of Cape Verde in that country. Regarding this last aspect, the student appeals to the possibility of creating an institute or other instrument to support these Cape Verdean university students.
In this regard, Juliana suggests the official recognition of student representatives in order to facilitate the formulation of documents, with priority for the passport. Still with regard to support, the students ask the government to allocate passage tickets for finalist students, to return to Cape Verde.
Fortunately, despite the war between Russia and Ukraine, Juliana says that the students are safe, as they are far from the conflict zone.
This young woman from Santo Antão has been a true ambassador for Cape Verde, promoting Cape Verdean culture in that country, teaching traditional Cape Verdean dance and performing on various stages, as lead singer of the musical band “Nos Tradison”.
There are currently 40 Cape Verdeans in Russia, of which 35 are students (23 are scholarship holders)
