President of Cape Verde praises FIFA's support for national football

The President of the Republic of Cape Verde, José Maria Neves, visited FIFA headquarters in Paris, where he was received by President Gianni Infantino. During the meeting, the two leaders discussed the significant advances in Cape Verdean football in recent years. Accompanied by the vice-president of the Cape Verdean Football Federation (FCF), Fernando Soares Firmino, the President thanked FIFA for support in the development of sport in the country.

The men's team, the Blue Sharks, which had never qualified for the African Cup of Nations before 2013, has participated in four editions in the last six, reaching the quarter-finals twice, including this year in Ivory Coast.

Infantino praised Cape Verde's progress and highlighted the role of football in education and society. The director stated that the country has great potential and that the investments made with FIFA Forward funds in infrastructure and women's football have been fundamental. The FIFA President reaffirmed his commitment to continuous support for Cape Verde.
