The President of Cape Verde, José Maria Neves, held a long telephone conversation with the President of Mozambique, Filipe Nyusi, on Tuesday afternoon. During the conversation, Neves expressed his solidarity with the victims and the material damage caused by Cyclone Chido, which recently devastated Mozambique.

In addition to addressing the consequences of the cyclone, the conversation focused on the post-electoral crisis that the country is facing. José Maria Neves highlighted his concern about the situation and stressed the importance of resolving the conflict peacefully and through dialogue. He also acknowledged the election results announced by the Constitutional Council of Mozambique, which proclaimed Daniel Chapo as president-elect.

The President of Cape Verde reinforced his call for all parties involved to respect the institutions and the election results, emphasizing the need for calm and restraint from all political forces. "It is essential that dialogue prevails to resolve the remaining differences," Neves declared.

This gesture of solidarity and diplomacy reaffirms the fraternal relationship between the two countries and reflects the search for peaceful solutions in situations of political instability in the region.
