President of Brava City Council is committed to bringing dignity to homeless citizens
Brava, October 12, 2023 - The Mayor of Brava, Francisco Tavares, promised that the city council will do everything possible to bring dignity to homeless citizens.
In a brief conversation with Bravanews, Tavares highlighted the urgent need to respond to this particular case, guaranteeing him access to shelter, food and support services. He emphasized that the city council has always been committed to creating policies and programs aimed at social inclusion and the reintegration of these citizens into society and will not allow Brava Island to have people on the streets.
"We cannot turn our backs on those who need help most. Homelessness is a complex problem that affects not only the individuals directly involved, but also our entire community. It is our responsibility to act", stated the Mayor.
Tavares said that he will involve several institutions, from the Red Cross, the Health Center, the National Police, to quickly resolve this situation, immediately announcing the rental of a room to house this citizen.
The news of the president's promise was received with applause and enthusiasm by those who know this sad situation, but collaboration is expected from the main interested party.
“We will do everything we can to accommodate and bring dignity to this gentleman who once had all the opportunities in this world but his personal choices led him to this situation. A multidisciplinary work between the CMB, the Red Cross Day Center, the Health Department, the National Police and I hope with the collaboration of civil society and, especially Mr. Carlos, we will try to reverse this deplorable and depressing situation that did not exist and does not there will be people living on the streets in Brava”, said Tavares.
