Brava, October 13, 2023 - The Brava City Council in the person of the Mayor Francisco welcomed the recognition and delivery of the 1st Class Military Medal for Relevant Services to Mr. Augusto Vasconcelos Lopes on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Guard Coastal in a ceremony held during this week.

The Mayor, together with local leaders and community members, recognized the notable role played by Augusto Vasconcelos Lopes in close association with the Coast Guard and his positive impact on the island and throughout Cape Verde.

Mr. Augusto Vasconcelos Lopes, a widely respected figure in the Brava community, has been a dedicated advocate for maritime security operations and the preservation of the island's coastal waters. Your collaboration with the Coast Guard has been vital to the success of several initiatives that ensure the safety and well-being of local citizens.

The Mayor of the City Council, on social media, “ responded with a quick and round YES, with great pleasure, to the appeal of the GOVERNMENT, the Coast Guard and the Brava City Council, providing, free of charge, one of its residences that serves as a “military house” / residence for elements of the Coast Guard Garrison in Brava that performs the excellent function of bringing security and certainty of emergency medical evacuations from from Brava. Augusto Vasconcelos Lopes is a shining example of how collaboration between individuals and institutions can strengthen our island."

According to the Minister of State and National Defense “this is a well-deserved public recognition for all the support and partnership they have given to the Coast Guard, contributing decisively so that it can guarantee the fulfillment of its duty”.
