Mayor of Brava defends the thesis of communication failure in the case of Young David Garcia who returned the motorcycle

The news reverberated widely in the local community and on social media when David Garcia, a young entrepreneur from the locality of Lomba Tamtum, returned the motorcycle he had received in an official ceremony in the presence of local and national officials. The act of return surprised everyone, based on the fact that the young man had sold the motorcycle, as it did not meet his expectations.

In an interview, President Francisco Tavares stated that he believes there was a serious lack of communication between the institution and the beneficiary of the motorcycle. According to him, apparently, there was no clear and effective dialogue about the conditions, obligations and terms of the donation.

“I think the young man realized that the motorcycle does not guarantee safety and power to bring fish and/or vegetables to sell in different locations on Brava because it is electric”. said the mayor.

For Tavares, the young man should communicate the fact to those directly responsible, but on the contrary, "he decided to sell the motorcycle and did so without communicating those involved in the donation process, as an incentive and support for the implementation of self-employment".

Tavares ended by saying that each experience should make us all apprehend, as “many times the will and desire to help may not be enough to achieve the desired objective by everyone (beneficiary and sponsor)”.

The case generated debates on social networks and among residents of Brava, who showed different opinions on the subject. While some supported David Garcia's attitude and demanded more transparency from the institutions in their actions, others believed that the return of the motorcycle could have been avoided if there had been better communication between the parties involved.
