The Mayor of Brava, Francisco Tavares, visited the city of Castelo Branco in Portugal to participate in the 1st International Meeting of Creative Cities and Sustainable Development.
The Mayor of Brava, Francisco Tavares, visited the city of Castelo Branco in Portugal to participate in the 1st International Meeting of Creative Cities and Sustainable Development.
With the theme Municipality with transition in Handmade Embroidery, the presentation that took place in the Portuguese city featured a variety of subjects related to typical embroidery from the island of Brava, including embroidery on handkerchiefs, towels and tablecloths.
During his visit, the President of the City Council of Brava had the opportunity to meet representatives of the City Council of Castelo Branco and discuss possible cultural collaborations between the two cities.
"It is a great honor for us to show our traditional embroideries here in Castelo Branco", said Tavares. "We hope this presentation can help promote the culture of the island of Brava and strengthen the relationships between our cities".
President Tavares, who arrived in Portugal on the 11th of April, has a return trip scheduled for the 25th of April, after making some contacts with officials from the Municipal Chamber of Oeiras.
