In a press release, the Presidency of the Republic emphasizes that this visit is part of the purpose of fulfilling one of the “primary objectives” of its mandate, which is to be close to the populations in all regions of the Country.
On this trip, the head of state has on his agenda "important issues" for the life of the island of flowers and its population, starting with maritime connections, which he considers to be a "determining factor of unity and national cohesion in this archipelagic country ”.
On his agenda, José Maria Neves has meetings with the city council, the Civil Protection service, the health sector to find out about local conditions.
Likewise, the head of state will be with the communities, having scheduled visits to the communities of Nossa Senhora do Monte, Cachaço and Lomba Tantum, with the aim of listening to the residents and transmitting their solidarity in this context of crisis, a mission that will have continuity with audiences in Nova Sintra.
Students in the 11th and 12th years of Escola Secundária Eugénio Tavares will have the opportunity to attend a master class given by José Maria Neves, similar to what he has done in other municipalities.
The visit of the President of the Republic to the island of Brava was initially scheduled to start on the 29th of October, but was canceled due to lack of transport to make the connection Santiago – Fogo – Brava, as announced at the time by the Palácio do Platô.
