Regarding the Cruise Terminal, the Prime Minister recognizes that the Government “is placing great expectations on this development which will also position S. Vicente in the Cruise Tourism segment, with a greater added value than what currently exists”.

The Prime Minister, José Ulisses Correia e Silva, dedicated today and his agenda to the maritime economy with visits to several public and private companies on the island of S. Vicente and accompanied the work on the Cruise Terminal, which should be completed in January 2024.

He dedicated the morning to aquaculture, with trips to Flamengo and Calhau, where he was able to check in loco the investments made by Nortuna, the Norwegian company that expects to start exporting bluefin tuna to Europe within a year and a half, and to the Shrimp Farm which currently produces for the national market.

“The economic impact when Nortuna enters into normal production activity will be great for the country, in terms of exports, the jobs it will create and access to markets”, said the Prime Minister to the press after a guided tour of the enterprise located in Flamengo.

He visited the Shrimp Farm again, where he could see through information from businessman Nélson Atanásio that one of the biggest problems they face at the moment is related to financing, and also with the logistics of transport to make their product flow to the islands. , mainly to Santiago, where there is a market.

“These two projects are an incentive for more investments of this type to appear in this area of Aquaculture, with interesting demand, mainly for exports”, said Ulisses Correia e Silva, adding that these companies “help our economy, in balancing the balance of payments and create jobs”.

In the afternoon, the Head of Government visited Cabnave and heard from the Board of Directors the constraints facing the company and promised immediate action: “For now, we are going to settle a State debt to Cabnave, because it is important for sustainability of the company”, he said, adding that “the launch of a study for the restructuring and modernization of Cabnave is already underway. The same study will also benefit Onave, a smaller company, focused on repairing small and medium-sized fishing and recreational vessels, but which also needs investment and restructuring.

Regarding the Cruise Terminal, the Prime Minister recognizes that the Government “is placing great expectations on this development which will also position S. Vicente in the Cruise Tourism segment, with a greater added value than what currently exists”.

“I am sure that S. Antão will also benefit” from this investment by the Government of Cape Verde.
