Rains/Damage: Prime Minister guarantees interventions to restore normality on the Fogo and Brava islands
The Government is already carrying out an assessment of the damage caused by the rains of recent days, with “particular emphasis” on the islands of Fogo and Brava, and will act wherever necessary to restore normality.
The guarantee was given today by the Prime Minister, Ulisses Correia e Silva, who is expected to visit the islands to see the situation 'on site'.
“The Government is already surveying the damage situation and assessing what needs to be done to restore normality both on the island of Fogo and Brava and we will act safely to restore normality”, said Correia e Silva.
The heavy rains that have fallen in recent days have caused damage to the islands of Fogo and Brava.
On the island of Fogo, the damage occurred mainly in the city of São Filipe, with the city council, at first, saying that it needed more than 50 thousand contos to repair the damage.
New damage has been recorded in recent days, and this value may be updated and increased.
Also, in Brava, neighboring the island of Fogo, there is damage caused by the rains.
The road that connects the Fajã d'Água area to the city of Nova Sintra was damaged by the floods, leaving the population once again isolated.
