BRAVA Retrospective 2019 - PART ONE (PAICV Brava)

In a year marked by demonstrations and allegations of mismanagement and political struggles, 2019 at Brava was quite busy.

By way of closing the year, we will make three publications, every 2 (two) days appreciating some of these outstanding facts, and we will start with this one.

In this FIRST PART we will deal with the Fact that most marked the Political and Social scope of the Island.

In a SECOND PART we will deal with the Business Environment on the Island and the fact that for us was most striking.

And in a THIRD PART, we will deal with the analysis of the Municipal Management of Ilha Brava. All referring to this year 2019.

And because nothing marked more than the astonishing and unprecedented condemnation of the MAA Delegate, Estevão Fonseca, who was denounced by the Municipal Deputies of Brava, Jorge Reverdes, João Coelho, Adalberto Martins and Carmem Fernandes, we will start here.

And remember that, in fact, the first of all accusations was even an investigation article made by Inforpress, in which Mr. delegate and Mr. President of the Chamber refused to give any interview to rebut.

This case marks not only Brava but the whole country, as a public administration leader, who was appointed to represent the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment at the highest level, was convicted of committing a crime of embezzlement. Which is nothing more than a crime of theft of public property in the exercise of functions.

An unprecedented fact not only in Cape Verde but in Africa, in which the leaders of public affairs live at the expense of the people's assets and are never punished. But this time, history reserved another fate.

But this case promises to make a lot of ink run, as it is known that on the next January 9, 2020, the complainant Municipal Deputies, and various personalities from Ilha Brava, such as Nho Dani de Poupança, will be heard in Court, in the Comarca da Brava , the National Deputy, Clóvis Silva, the ex. Maritime Delegate, the Inforpress Journalist, etc., in a soap opera that will still have many chapters.

This hearing, as far as we know, aims to analyze the criminal complaint that the Delegate made against his whistleblowers, saying that he was insulted and slandered, and that the facts are all false and asks for an astronomical compensation of around 5 million of shields.

In this sense, we give a negative note to the performance of MPD Deputies, whether Municipal or National Deputy, due to the lack of intervention in this remarkable event, with a strong negative inclination for Deputies João Paulo Silva and David Lima, taking into account that they expressed publicly their support for delegate Estevão Fonseca, and ended up being silenced by the Court's conviction, having been displeased with Ilha Brava.

The same could be said of the Mayor Francisco Tavares, who was, incidentally, the first to defend the convict Estevão Fonseca on social networks.

Sad fate for the money that should have gone to the BRAVA Farmers and Breeders who did not take advantage of any penny of the misappropriated values.
